The public bus stop embodies a rare moment of shared experience – a place of functional equality where each of us pauses en route to our separate destinations. Every passenger, whether commuting by choice or necessity, converges here, sharing a space that temporarily connects people across socioeconomic divides. Here, as we wait, we are side by side: a mother calming her child, a teenager rushing to an exam, a commuter grappling with a recent job loss, an elderly person seeking care, each carrying unseen burdens – we are similar than one might expect. This project invites us to consider a frequently overlooked bus stop user: those experiencing homelessness, who seek respite in this transient space when other options are limited. Increasingly, public spaces prioritise ad revenue over human needs, making our bus stops less hospitable for all who pause there. What if, instead, we thought of bus stops as places of comfort – a small extension of home for anyone in need?
